Implementation of Road Driving Electronic Scoring System

What is an electronic scoring system for road driving system?

  • Introduction of electronic scoring system to ensure fairness and objectivity in scoring road test and to improve practicality and convenience of test
  • Navigation voice guidance eliminates the need to memorize the course, making the test more convenient, and the introduction of electronic scoring using tablet PCs makes the test fairer.

Road driving test

Item Content
Supplies - Applications, ID card (range of identification)
Test course - total length of 5 km or more
Test details - Concession of emergency vehicles, child protection zone, violation of designated speed, etc
- Evaluate 57 items required for safe driving
Scoring criterion ※ See the contents below
Acceptance criterion - 70 points or higher
- Tester scores by electronic scoring system
Disqualification criterion (1) Where it is deemed that the operation capacity is significantly insufficient due to "inability to start", "engine stop due to poor clutch operation", "sudden brake use", "sudden operation/sudden departure" or other reasons;
(2) Where there is a significant risk of causing a traffic accident due to a lack of driving ability, such as not securing a safe distance and being pushed back by at least one meter from the slope, or causing a traffic accident;
(3) Where there is a risk of not being able to drive normally due to the influence of drugs such as drinking, overwork, drugs, marijuana, etc., or the use of a mobile phone, or failure to comply with the instructions and control of a tester for traffic safety and communication;
(4) Where the person violates the obligation to pass the right part from the center of the road;
(5) Violation of obligation to follow a signal or instruction
(6) Where the obligation to protect pedestrians is neglected;
(7) In the case of violating the obligation to protect children's commuting buses
(8) Where the maximum speed specified by statutes, safety signs, etc. exceeds 10 km/h;
(9) Where the maximum speed specified in a child protection zone, a protection zone for the elderly and persons with disabilities is exceeded;
(10) Where the seat belt is not worn from the time of departure (departure order) to the time of termination (result determination)
(11) When an emergency vehicle is temporarily suspended or has not given way to the priority traffic;
(12) If the total number of intermediate applications does not meet the acceptance criterion
Caution - You must pass the road test within the valid period of the practice driver's license (one year from the issuance date).
- If the period of validity of the practice driving license has expired, it is not possible to apply for the road driving test, and you must take the department test or the skill test again. (Traffic safety education does not require retaking)
Retake after failure - can be retested after 3 days from the date of failure
e.g. If you fail on the 1st (Monday), you can retake it from the 4th (Thursday)

Signal Continuation 5 Stop at the edge of the road and continue to signal the direction indicator even after the lane change has been completed
Inability to operate the starter 5 if the starter is operated again with the starter on
④ Acceleration and speed maintenance
Slow down 5 the acceleration is inadequate due to traffic conditions, which are less than normal
Inability to maintain speed 5 unable to maintain normal speed due to traffic conditions
Unable to accelerate 5 if the gear shift due to traffic conditions is improper and the acceleration is not achieved due to continuous driving
⑤ Braking and stopping
Failure to use the engine brake 5 when braking is required, the clutch pedal is powered off or the gear is in neutral in advance (for automatic transmissions, the 5th shift lever is in neutral before stopping)
If the engine brake is not used by removing the foot from the accelerator pedal in advance when reducing the speed
Insufficient braking method 5 When braking is required due to traffic conditions but the brake pedal is not prepared
Unbraked at rest 5 If the brake pedal is not pressed while the brake pedal is stopped for a while, such as waiting for a signal (for automatic transmission, the brake pedal is not pressed loosely or pressed)
